What is a Guardian Home?
Participating in our guardian home program is a great way to add a pup to your family at no upfront cost to you! It is a permanent, loving home for a pet that remains part of Ashby's Poodles and Doodles responsible breeding program. You, the guardian family, enjoy all the benefits of pet ownership while I, the breeder, retain certain breeding rights for a period of 3-4 litters as outlined in a written agreement.
During this time, the pet lives with the guardian as a cherished family member, receiving daily love, care, training, and socialization. Once the pet has completed its breeding responsibilities and is retired, full ownership is transferred to the guardian family. Guardian homes allow exceptional dogs to enjoy life in a family environment while helping preserve and improve the breed through ethical, responsible breeding practices.
A guardian family must agree to certain terms, some of which are:

First, fill out a puppy application on my website.

A video call with me, the breeder, will be required to meet each other and discuss the following requirements.

You must live within 45 minutes of Stevensville, MI.

You must have a fenced yard.

You must take great care of the dog to maintain its safety and prevent any accidental pregnancy while in heat, or while intact for males.

Provide basic obedience training and socialization.

Feed the dog a high quality food that I approve of.

You must maintain exceptional health of the dog including routine vet exams, sick care visits, vaccines, heartworm medication, flea and tick medications, supplements if indicated, and basic grooming standards including teeth, ears, and nails.

Transport the dog to and from breeder when needed for health testing, ultrasounds, and vet exams related to breeding.

Maintain contact with breeder at all times for anything pertaining to the dog.

Under no circumstance can you breed the dog, spay, or neuter the dog without the consent of the breeder.
There will be a contract provided outlining other roles and responsibilities of the Guardian and Breeder.
